Lutterworth Community Transport

Lutterworth Community Transport is
based at One Stop Shop, Lutterworth, and works closely with -
and is managed by - Volunteer Centre Lutterworth. LCT operates a
fleet of four minibuses and a wheel-chair accessible car which are
available to members of the public and groups to hire. Alongside
this, the social car scheme, CarLink, has approximately 65 drivers
who provide their own vehicles and drive on a voluntary basis.
The services provided rely very
heavily on the volunteers who give their time (and use of their
vehicles) for the benefit of the local community. Although drivers
are reimbursed for their expenses, no other reward or salary is
paid.
Lutterworth Community Transport is an
award-winning service and is recognised as probably one of the best
services operating in the East Midlands.
For the future, LCT hopes to add to
its recent acquisition of vehicles with the purchase of a wheelchair
accessible Multipurpose Vehicle (MPV).
Although charges are made for use of
Lutterworth Community Transport services, these are heavily
subsidised by Leicestershire County Council and others such as the
Big Lottery Fund. Funding for vehicles also comes from other sources
such as the Lutterworth Town Estates committee.
